TREASURES OF CONTENTMENT

A. Our society is filled with discontentment.

B. What does the Bible say about being content??

I Timothy 6:6-8 – Godliness + contentment = great gain
Our basic needs: food & clothes

Hebrews 13:5 God will never leave or forsake us.

Contentment is a spiritual quality and a command.
Contentment is a learned process. (Philippians 4:11)

C. Five Key Characteristics of a Contented Life

1. Faith – Have trust in God to provide (Hebrews 4:11)
2. Humble – Learn to live with less (Philippians 4:19)
3. Submit – Change to an eternal perspective (Philippians 4:11 & Colossians 3:2)
4. Depend– On Christ’s power to overcome (Philippians 4:13 & Isaiah 40:31)
5. Consider — Think of others before self (Philippians 2:3-4)

True contentment is an act of worship. (Proverbs 14:14) (Jeremiah 31:14)
